Cyber-Ark joins PCI Security Standards Council as newest Participating Organization
Cyber-Ark to participate in key standards setting body protecting payment cardholder data
NEWTON, Mass. - May 4, 2011 - Cyber-Ark® Software, the leading global information security provider for protecting and managing critical applications, identities and sensitive information, today announced that it has joined the PCI Security Standards Council as a Participating Organization. With this affiliation, Cyber-Ark furthers its commitment to enabling enterprise customers to protect cardholder data and make credit card payments more secure by assuming a direct role in the development of evolving PCI Data Security Standard (DSS).
The PCI DSS, endorsed by American Express, Discover Financial Services, JCB International, MasterCard Worldwide and Visa Inc. and administered by the PCI Security Standards Council, requires merchants and service providers that store, process or transmit customer payment card data to adhere to information security controls and processes that ensure data integrity.
Cyber-Ark provides mature Privileged Identity Management and Governed File Transfer technology to address PCI compliance requirements associated with user account management, encryption, and safe exchange and sharing of sensitive information, including the ability to automate the management and monitoring of access to high-value applications and systems by privileged users and accounts.
“Joining the PCI Security Standards Council is an important opportunity to collaborate with other members and help further define the security measures and standards necessary for our customers to achieve┬ácompliance and protect cardholder data,” said Adam Bosnian, executive vice president Americas and corporate development, Cyber-Ark Software.
As a Participating Organization, Cyber-Ark has access to the Council’s latest payment card security standards in order to provide feedback and become part of a growing community that includes more than 600 organizations. In an era of increasingly sophisticated attacks on systems, adhering to the PCI DSS represents an entity’s best protection against data criminals. By joining as a Participating Organization, Cyber-Ark can now add its Privileged Identity Management and Governed File Transfer experience and related PCI compliance expertise to the process.
“The PCI Security Standards Council is committed to helping everyone involved in the payment chain protect consumer payment data,” said Bob Russo, General Manager of the PCI Security Standards Council. “By participating in the standards setting process, Cyber-Ark demonstrates they are playing an active part in this important end goal.”
